Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

MRI ScannerWindsong Radiology Group is proud to offer “open feeling” short bore 3T and 1.5T MRI Scanners.  This scanner provides a comfortable exam for claustrophobic patients, without compromising the image quality.  The opening is significantly wider, and the length of the bore significantly shorter, to enhance patient comfort. With this configuration, most non-brain studies can be performed without the patient’s head entering the scanner, alleviating the claustrophobia often associated with MRI scanning.  This scanner can also accommodate larger patients, with a table weight limit of 500 lbs.

Responding to the needs of breast implant imaging and breast cancer screening, we have one of the only dedicated MRI breast coils in WNY.   We can offer unilateral breast MRI for implant imaging as well as bilateral breast MRI and MRI guided breast biopsy for cancer imaging.

Scans typically take 20 to 45 minutes. Patients are encouraged to bring their own music CD's and are welcome to have a family member or friend in the room with them during the procedure. Patients with pacemakers or aneurysm clips cannot participate in an MRI procedure. For added patient convenience, we offer evening and Saturday hours for routine exams.

Our fellowship-trained Radiologists review and interpret all MRI studies with reports available to referring physicians within 24 hours.  Exam images are available on film or CD.  Physicians may also use our convenient on-line image viewing capability.
