The Windsong Radiology Group was proud to host Congressman Thomas
Reynolds (R – NY) for a meeting at their facility on Tuesday August
22nd.
Windsong is responsible for the employment of nearly 200 families, and
serves roughly 300,000 patients per year with the latest in technology
including PET/CT, MRI, CT, Digital Mammography, Ultrasound, traditional
X-Ray and Dexa scanning.
They discussed that patient access to these important and necessary
imaging services could be limited – or even eliminated in some cases –
if the cuts included in the Deficit Reduction Act (DRA) of 2005 are
implemented on January 1, 2007. More specifically, Windsong President
Janet Sung, M.D. advised that these disproportionately large cuts,
upwards of 30-50% for many imaging procedures, will make it difficult
for the facility to continue to offer the type of timely and thorough
care our patients require, and continue to support the number of
employees they provide for.
Windsong radiologists asked Congressman Reynolds for his help in
supporting H.R. 5704, which calls for a two-year moratorium on the
payment reductions while the General Accountability Office (GAO)
conducts a study on the likely impact of the cuts on patient access.
Additional information about H.R. 5704 is available by contacting Josh
Cooper, Senior Director of Government Relations, or Orrin Marcella,
Assistant Director of Congressional Relations, at the American College
of Radiology at 202-223-1670.
