Dr. Anna Chen & Dr. Cynthia Fan Discuss New Mammography Guidelines on WBEN 930 AM

Windsong Radiology Group radiologists Dr. Anna Chen and Dr. Cynthia Fan appeared on WBEN 930 AM radio in Buffalo today to discuss new USPSTF guidelines for mammography recommendations with hosts Susan Rose and John Zach.  The federally supported U.S. Preventative Service Task Force recommendations against regular screening for women under forty years old has the potential to reverse two decades of decline in breast cancer, and countless American women may die needlessly from breast cancer each year.

Both Dr. Chen and Dr. Fan dispute the task force findings, and take issue with the selective studies used to reach these recommendations, while ignoring hundreds of well-regarded studies on the subject. Dr. Chen cited internal Windsong Radiology Group patient statistics in which 47 women under 50 years old have been diagnoised with breast cancer in the last five months (June-October 2009) at Windsong.
