Maureen Connors, RT, named to Buffalo Business First 2010 Healthcare 50

Maureen Connors, RT was recently named to the Buffalo Business First 2010 Healthcare 50, recognizing healthcare professionals for their contributions for improving healthcare in Western New York.  Maureen is a certified Breast Patient Navigator at Windsong Radiology Group, and was the driving force that helped to launch this innovative and novel program that is exclusive to Windsong Radiology Group in the outpatient imaging setting in Western New York.  The Breast Patient Navigator (BPN) at Windsong gives our patients that have experienced an unexpected result from their mammogram and requires additional testing; perhaps surgery a resource and a person to help answer the numerous questions that may arise.  Maureen and her BPN partner Patricia Smith give our patients and their family a dedicated cell phone number to call them at anytime to help them navigate through the process.

In addition to being a resource to the patients, Maureen and Pat in the BPN program assists the patient’s referring physican offices to coordinate arranging for films (CD-ROMs), reports, and follow up.  The BPN has also become a resource for second opinions sent to Windsong for those patients and physicians that want to be sure, and confirm the initial findings.
