Picture Archiving & Communication System (PACS) is a valuable tool for referring physicians. PACS gives your physician the ability to access digital exam images over the Internet via his or her own office computer.
Does this mean you cannot access a copy of your images? Not at all. If you need to obtain your images, please call us 24 hours in advance. With a filmless system and an off-site archive, we would like to have your images ready in advance so that we do not keep you waiting! You may choose to pick images up at any one of the sites closest to you as long as we have advance notice.
Windsong Radiology Group has made great strides to become 95% digital. As a result, we no longer print films. Instead, we offer an improved solution by providing referring providers and/or patients a copy of his/her images on a CD.
Storing bulky film jackets is no longer required and images can be conveniently, quickly viewed via our self-loading CDs. However, if a surgeon or provider has made alternative arrangements with Windsong Radiology Group prior to this policy going into effect on 11/1/05, they will still receive films.
Mammography analog films are stored for ten (10) years on inactive patients (we keep all films on active patients). All other analog films are kept for seven (7) years. Borrowed films must be returned to us within 30 days as they are a permanent part of your medical record.
